“Mahamrityunjaya” means “The great conqueror of death”. This mantra is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the supreme cosmic power, who has the potential to liberate one from the vicious cycle of birth and death. The meaning of the mantra is “Oh Lord Shiva! We welcome you - you are the possessor of three eyes (the power of intuition, knower of past, present and future, symbol of salvation, union of shiva and shakti). You are omnipresent (present everywhere - the earth plane, the astral plane, the heavenly plane), full of fragrance, storehouse and bestower of strength (body - health, mind - thought power, will power, concentration, soul - intuition).”, We surrender and pray - “As a ripe cucumber falls / detaches from the twinning at its own; in the same way bless us so that we may cherish natural death (devoid of accidents, diseases or natural calamities) and give us the nectar (ambrosia) of liberation (enlightenment, freedom) from the cycle of birth and death”.
