SITALI
HISSING BREATH
“It is also called The Cooling Breath
Pranayam in which you breathe in from the mouth by rolling the tongue like a straw and sipping in air through it like a straw and then gulp it down as if drinking water and exhale from the nostrils very
slowly.”
Shitali is unique among breathing exercises, as the inhalation is through the mouth rather than the nose. In this
Pranayam you curl the tongue between the lips making a straw or pipe and inhale with the hissing sounds, close mouth while you hold the breath and exhale slowly through the nose, relaxing the throat.
