Mudras are practical and accessible practices. They are less intimidating, less demanding, and easier to apply to your life without diluting the essence of Yoga. However, it is disappointing to see Mudras often being ignored in Yoga practice as a whole or misused as a photo op during asanas.
Here are three Mudras you can try to make friends with this vata season:
This mudra can be practiced immediately after meals if your vata is manifesting as bloating, flatulence, or cramping. Using one hand or both, hold it for 2 minutes, 3 times a day. You can also incorporate it into your day if you would like to practice it as a preventative measure.

Practice this mudra right upon waking up or before bedtime if you experience wheezing, shallowness, or choppiness in breath. Please note that this is not a replacement or alternative for a medical intervention but a preventative practice for seasonal care and complementary support.

This mudra helps in calming down a rajasic, restless, hyperactive mind. Practice it seated or in a lying down position right before bed, holding it with ease in one or both hands and sensing your body ease into a deep sleep.
